Ferrari has simply outdone themselves. It's as close to motoring perfection as it gets. Take everything you could ever want in a sports car - and we mean everything - and the F430 Spider has it. Sexy, smooth, perfect curves that make your heart skip a beat (or three). Performance that will knock your shoes, socks, pants, and shirts off. An engine sound that will make Formula 1 drivers jealous. Handing so tight, so smooth, so precise that you'll have to pinch yourself to believe you're actually in a convertible.

In fact, this car is so terrific to drive that we're going to stop describing it right now. Words don't do it justice. Just rent it and you'll understand.

The new Hyundai Genesis, the automaker's first foray into premium sports sedan territory (we saw a first glimpse of it here), will also be the first Hyundai to offer the XM NavTraffic real-time traffic service as an option.

XM Radio will of course be standard on the Genesis, as it is on all Hyundai vehicles.

XM NavTraffic, which is available in 80 major North American markets, will be made available as part of the Genesis' navigation system. Every 2009 Hyundai Genesis equipped with XM NavTraffic comes standard with a free 3-month subscription of the traffic service (XM Radio also comes with a 3-month trial subscription).

"While Genesis will compete for customers with cars like Chrysler 300 and Pontiac G8, our engineering benchmarks were Mercedes E-Class, BMW 5 Series, Infiniti M, and Lexus GS," said John Krafcik, VP product development and strategic planning at Hyundai Motor America.

Genesis is built on Hyundai's all-new, rear-wheel-drive architecture with three powertrains offered, including 3.3-liter and 3.8-liter V6 engines, and Hyundai's all-new 4.6-liter Tau V8. The Tau will produce an estimated 375 horsepower using premium fuel (368hp using regular unleaded) leading all competitors in specific output with 79.5 to 81.0 horsepower per liter.

A prototype of the next-generation Honda Pilot is being unveiled at the 2008 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., announced today.

The prototype conveys design features of the more boldly-styled 2009 Pilot, set to debut in spring 2008, which emphasizes authentic SUV styling, clever and more accommodating interior packaging and advanced technologies for safety, fuel efficiency and convenience.

“The Pilot’s pioneering formula improves for 2009 by enhancing its combination of refinement and efficiency with even more traditional SUV strengths,” said John Mendel, executive vice president of American Honda. “A powerful exterior design communicates strength and allows for more space inside.”

Envisioned as a luxury sports car, the Triumph Stag was designed to be a gentleman's sports tourer, to compete directly with the Mercedes-Benz SL class models. All Stags were four-seater convertible coupés, but for structural rigidity - and to meet new American rollover standards at the time - the Stag required a B-pillar "roll bar" hoop connected to the windscreen frame by a T-bar.

The first FWD-based Jeep
The Compass targets the entry-level compact-SUV market with Jeep's first front-wheel-drive-based chassis. Our worries began here...a FWD Jeep? Well, at least it's priced right: under $16 grand for the front-wheel-drive Sport model, and $17,585 with destination charges for the four-wheel-drive Compass Sport.

Know this: Jeep could have taken a big step off a steep cliff with the Compass. Look at the situation: The Compass is a sister vehicle to the Dodge Caliber and Mitsubishi Outlander. Smell that? Something already stinks of badge engineering. But keep reading.

When Honda first unveiled its FCX Clarity concept at the 2005 Tokyo Motor Show, it represented a huge leap forward in fuel-cell technology -- a spacious sedan with 136 horsepower and a 280-mile range, the car's revolutionary powertrain allowing it to emit nothing more than water vapor. Even more impressive was Honda's plan to put the FCX into production, though in limited numbers and available only to select customers chosen by the automaker. Now three years later the first five lucky drivers have been chosen, and this glimpse of the automotive future is starting to roll off the assembly line. The 2008 Honda FCX Fuel-Cell vehicle is capable of achieving 68 mpg combined city and highway driving. Currently hydrogen with the same amount of energy as gasoline costs between $3-$6. Fuel-Cell vehicles are more efficient than gasoline vehicles so the cost per mile is a lot less. The FCX is capable of reaching speeds up to 100 miles per hour and in initial tests the vehicles easily reached 75 mph.

Acura is the performance and luxury division of Honda. The brand was created in 1986 and became the first Japanese luxury car line. Since then Nissan and Toyota have also introduced luxury car brands, Infiniti and Lexus, respectfully. The rumormill suggested that the new NSX was edging closer and closer to production, but today Autoblog confirmed that Honda has shelved the project. These are proving to be brutal times for Honda sports car and racing fans, as Honda earlier announced plans to sell its once promising Formula 1 team.

What the production NSX was to have been like was based on rumor and speculation-Honda did a fine job of keeping details under wraps, as they typically do. While this news is disappointing, the NSX filled a very small niche. Honda is hurting in a global recession, just as most manufacturers are. While sales are down, Honda was prepared for the economic downturn, with small, handsome, solid performers like the new Fit and the Civic. These cars are the focus of Honda currently, as well as the upcoming Insight hybrid. Production of the last generation NSX ended in 2005, so it’s not as if Honda was feeling forced to rush a new NSX into production anyways. For the time being, the Nissan Skyline GT-R remains THE Japanese super-car. Once the economy sorts itself out eventually (we hope), Honda could revive plans to bring the NSX back. But for the time being, the NSX is not the right car for right now.

waiting for the actual concept car of the 2008 Accord Coupe since seeing the drawing awhile back. The good thing is that Honda kept the rear end of the car very similar to the drawing – and it looks absolutely fantastic. The quad exhaust will probably turn into dual exhaust for the production model, which is fine. But the rear of the car is daring enough without being offensive, that I really like it.

The problem, though, is not the rear of the car. It’s the fact that that the side profile and front of the car look exactly like a Hyundai Tiburon, which I don’t like. See, Hyundai is supposed to be copying Honda, not the other way around. I like the basic look of the current Accord front end. If Honda can combine that ( spice it up a little, of course ) with the concept rear end, they’ll have a huge hit, and I’ll buy one. If they keep the Tiburon look, this Accord will bring new meaning to the word suckage.

Autobytel’s thoughts on the 2008 Honda Accord Coupe Concept – ‘We are surprised Honda’s design so closely follows that of the Hyundai Tiburon, but it holds enough of its own lines and style to keep everyone happy, including current and new potential customers. We wish an interior had also been revealed but don’t doubt whatever Honda brings to the table will be up to Accord standards.’ It seems they see the same thing I do – a Tiburon will a nice rear. Karl on Cars had this to say about the 2008 Accord Coupe concept – ‘I do like the design, however, as the current Accord always looked a little flabby to me. More power and better mileage is another promise that buyers will appreciate.’ More power and mileage is good, very good. Well, at least the mileage part. The current Accord isn’t hurting for real-world power or performance. It does fall behind on paper, but there’s plenty of go-juice when you’re out on the road, whether you’re in the I4 or V6.
